Polarity & Legacy Burdens Workshop
This immersive three-day workshop offers a comprehensive journey into the systemic nature of the internal world. By blending the mediation skills of Internal Family Systems (IFS) with the ancestral healing rituals of legacy unburdening, you will learn to transform internal "tug-of-wars" into a clear path toward Self-leadership and generational freedom.
Day 1: The Anatomy of Internal Polarisation
The first day is dedicated to understanding polarisation not as "chaos," but as an intelligent systemic process designed to maintain balance.
The Systemic "Tug-of-War": We will explore how opposing parts—typically Managers and Firefighters—escalate because they are protecting in opposite ways. You will learn to identify the fear-based logic that keeps these parts stuck: the belief that if one side stops dominating, the other side will take over.
Mapping the Internal System: Participants will learn to recognise alliances, conflicts, and repeating patterns within their own systems. We will look at how these dynamics mirror family systems, identifying who gets favoured and who gets belittled internally.
Somatic Awareness: Because polarity often shows itself somatically before cognitively, we will practice noticing the physical "tug-of-war" in the body.
Day 2: Mediating the Inner Conflict & Reaching the Wound
Day two focuses on the clinical skills required to navigate these standoffs and move toward the underlying vulnerability.
The "No-Winner" Stance: We will practice a therapeutic stance of curiosity and mediation. Instead of siding with the "healthier" sounding part, we learn to listen to both sides, respecting their positive intentions and existential fears.
The Triangle Model: We will use the Triangle Model to see how protector conflicts often act as a "detour," pulling focus away from a "screaming wound" or Exile underneath.
Navigating External Constraints: We will address how real-world conditions—such as finances, health dependence, or immigration status—can keep polarities active, learning that sometimes the goal is regulation under constraint rather than immediate resolution.
Internal Interventions: Participants will practice using metaphors like the "kitchen table" or "campfire" to create a safe space where the Self can lead the internal dialogue.
Day 3: The Ritual of Legacy Unburdening
On the final day, we address the "fuel" of many polarities: legacy burdens inherited from ancestors.
Discerning the Inheritance: We begin by identifying what percentage of a burden is personal and what is a legacy passed down through the family line.
Addressing Protective Fears: Before unburdening, we collaborate with internal parts to address their concerns, such as the fear that returning a burden might further weigh down a suffering parent.
The "Passing Back" Ritual: This core experiential process involves inviting the Self of ancestors and taking the inherited burden out of the body. Participants will pass the burden back through the generational line until it reaches the source, where it is released into a chosen element (like fire, water, or earth).
Restoring Essential Qualities: Once released, we identify the positive qualities—such as beauty, visibility, or strength—that were pushed out by the burden. These qualities are invited back in and passed forward through the generations to the participant and even their children.
